The Man of Honest Words

By John Aldred

And then there is the critic
The analytic
The parasitic.

So often a sophistic
With a touch of the sadistic
And always egotistic.

Rarely, truly artistic
Never simplistic
Sometimes jingoistic.

Makes me feel fistic
As he destroys another tristich
Of which I had been optimistic.

So I seek an antiseptic
To that really awful sceptic
Who has given me a peptic.

He is so symbolistic
Ensures I'll never be commercialistic
But I could be cannibalistic!
